Spring and summer are approaching quickly and soon a lot of us will be focusing on making our yards look great or building that shed. Or maybe creating a sandbox or tree house for the kids is on your warm-weather to-do list this year. Besides yourself, think of all the people in your (and the surrounding) neighborhood that are planning to do the same. Lowe's and Home Depot are going to be veeeery busy and they want to be staffed and ready to serve.
Lowe's is hosting its largest job fair ever on Wednesday, February 21st. The company is looking to fill 53,000 job positions selling lawn and garden equipment, cashiers and people that can stock and do other tasks.
Lowe's is actually hosting a Facebook live on the 21st of February so if you can't attend the job fair, that's where you need to be to participate.
Meanwhile the Home Depot has over 80,000 seasonal slots to fill for spring. They're rolling out a new platform where people interested in working for the company can schedule an interview through their tablet, smartphone or laptop.
For people who have already filled out a job application in person at a store or Home Depot Distribution Center will also be able set up a time for a follow-up interview appointment online.
Home Depot's vice president for human resources says, "Just as we are continuously evolving to meet the changing expectations of our customers, we're harnessing new technologies to do the same for job seekers."
Lowe's says that almost 40% of the seasonal workers that they hired last year moved into permanent part-time and full-time jobs.
