Russell Brand made a rare comment about his and Katy Perry's divorce nearly 13 years after they called it quits.
The Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor opened up about his former relationship with the "Teenage Dream" icon, detailing the reason behind their 2012 split in Thursday's (April 3) episode of Stay Free with Russell Brand.
"What can I tell you is, when I was married to Katy Perry, she's like a—not entirely normal, because she's an extraordinary, massive star—but she's not weird or off-key. And wasn't involved in anything nefarious, as far as I could tell. The reasons a marriage didn't work are the normal human reasons marriages don't work, and I have nothing but respect for her."
The star continued, revealing their disagreements were nothing out of the ordinary.
"I obviously disagree with her political views, but I probably disagree with some of my wife's political views, my beloved wife, Laura Brand’s political views. So, you know, you always disagree with people, don’t ya?"
According to E!News, this is not the first comment Brand has made about his divorce from the "Last Friday Night" songstress. In 2023, he told Bear Grylls that that time in his life was very "chaotic" and "disconnected." Perry has also spoken publicly about their split, citing "friction" and everything "happening all at once" during an interview with 60 Minutes Australia in 2020.
The world-renowned hitmaker is currently engaged to Orlando Bloom, and the pair share a four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove. Brand is married to Laura Gallacher. The couple share children Mable, 8, Peggy, 5, and a third child born in November 2023 whose name has yet to be revealed.
